More than 2000 passengers have participated in Australia’s first driverless electric bus trial since its launch in South Perth last August.
The RAC Intellibus, supported by the state government and City of South Perth, has been transporting up to 11 passengers at a time along the South Perth Esplanade, travelling at an average speed of 25km/h.
The electric bus uses light detection and ranging, stereovision cameras, GPS, odometry and autonomous emergency braking to detect and avoid obstacles.
